"David Wightman creates paintings of fictional landscapes using collaged wallpaper and brightly-coloured acrylic paint. Using a technique similar to marquetry, the artist hand-cuts pieces of wallpaper to craft intricate textured surfaces that are then carefully hand-painted. His landscapes are both idealised and impossible; they are inspired by real places but are entirely imaginary. Colour, texture, and composition are the main preoccupations of his work."
